What is a debris box?
A debris box, dumpster bin, and roll-off dumpster are the same thing — a rectangular open-top container that rolls off the back of a truck onto your driveway or job site. The name 'debris box' is common in California and the Bay Area; 'dumpster' is more common everywhere else. Whatever you call it, we drop it, you fill it, we haul it.
Sizes we drop
10 yard: small cleanouts, single bathroom remodel, roofing tear-offs up to about 15 squares, or heavy material like concrete and dirt. 20 yard: most common for full garage cleanouts, kitchen remodels, and medium roofing jobs. 30 yard: whole-house cleanouts and larger construction debris. 40 yard: commercial jobs, big estate cleanouts, light bulky debris only. Heavy material is restricted to the 10 yard — overloading is a safety and DOT issue.
What goes in a debris box
Construction & demolition debris, wood, drywall, shingles, flooring, furniture, appliances (without freon), yard waste, concrete (clean), dirt (clean), and household junk. What stays out: hazardous waste, paint, oil, batteries, tires, refrigerators with freon, and asbestos. Mixed loads are fine — we sort recyclables at the transfer station.
FAQ
- How much does a debris box cost in San Diego?
- Starts at $699 for a 10 yard with 1 ton included. Final price depends on your zip code, total weight, and debris type. Heavy loads (concrete, dirt) and overage tonnage are billed at the transfer station rate.
- How long can I keep the debris box?
- Standard rental is 7 days. Need it longer? Just call — we'll extend at a low daily rate as long as the box isn't double-booked.
- Do I need a permit for a debris box on the street?
- If the box sits on your private driveway, no permit needed. If it has to go on a public street, most San Diego cities require a right-of-way permit — we'll tell you which one and how to pull it.
- Can I put concrete and dirt in the same debris box?
- Yes, as long as it's clean (no rebar tangle, no trash mixed in) and you're using a 10 yard. Clean concrete and dirt get recycled at separate facilities, so we may ask you to keep them separated for the lowest disposal rate.
